Updated Mercedes C-Class heading to Geneva with new look

Home Mercedes Benz C-Class Updated Mercedes C-Class heading to Geneva with new look

Mercedes revises the C-Class best-seller. The design is subtly refined in line with the high-tech MBUX infotainment system. The world premiere is set for next month’s Geneva motor show.

The Mercedes C-class gets a facelift. Since the middle class sedan still enjoys great popularity, the internally called W 205 C-class will receive only minor design updates. At the front Mercedes grafted a new apron and new headlights with striking two-layer optional multi-beam LEDs. Even at the rear, the changes are small: new taillights and a narrow chrome trim in the lower bumper. Whether the models with AMG-Line will be revised more, remains to be seen.

The refreshment of the W 205 series primarily benefits the interior. The most important change that can be seen on the photos: a new steering wheel with touch controls. Likewise, an optional widescreen cockpit with dual 12,3-inch TFT displays is expected. In addition, the cruise control lever on the left side of the steering wheel is eliminated. The cruise control buttons go (as in the competition) onto the steering wheel. After the A-Class and the new Sprinter have already received the infotainment system MBUX, it makes sense for Mercedes to equip the C-Class facelift with it as well.

What is likely to come in the revamped C-Class: the simply designed and probably optionally available touchpad, which replaces the previous rotary / push switch with overlying touchpad. In addition, the mid-size sedan is said to get a new generation of inline four- and six-cylinder engines.

With a market launch expected in July 2018, it is likely that Mercedes will present the revised C-Class at the Geneva Motor Show (8th to 18th March 2018).
