Hot on the heels of the A-Class’ refresh, Mercedes-Benz blesses the CLA 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG with the same revamped 381 HP and 475 Nm engine lifted straight from their A 45 stablemate.
Mercedes gets back in the lead with the most powerful hot crossover on sale today upping the ante with 40 HP compared to the previous record holders, the 2.5-litre Audi RS Q3. All this without the need for a bigger displacement engine.
The 2.0-litre capacity remains untouched with Mercedes-AMG engineers squeezing no less than 190 HP per liter simply by reconfiguring the admission settings and valve assembly in order to upgrade the already potent four-cylinder engine. Enough to topple even the arch-rivaling Audi RS3 and its 367 HP arsenal.
A mechanical front axle locking differential and AMG Ride Control sport suspension with adaptive damping are now optional as part of the AMG Dynamic Plus package while the exhaust system features an automatically exhaust flap as standard.
Dynamic Select is also standard along with the same settings from the Mercedes-AMG GT and C 63 AMG: Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual a fifth driving mode named Race.
According to AMG boss Tobias Moers, qouted by British magazine Autocar, the upgrade will be available immediately for both the CLA 45 AMG and the GLA 45 AMG.
